Research Gathered

By gathering research from a range of sources it ensured the theoretical investigation was informative and points discussed can have some relevancy to historical and more contemporary or modern day sources. Using a range of sources also made triangulation easier and theorist views and arguments were backed up by a range of references. 

A mixed methods approach was used for research, methods included:
  • Literature
  • Case studies 
  • Articles 
  • Journals  
Research informed and changed my own views on the topic and changed how I see myself as a feminist amongst research findings of feminist controversy. In terms of the exploration of 'What is the impact of Feminism as a Commodity in Advertising? ‘Femvertising’ & Commodity Feminism' the essay has informed and improved my knowledge on the topic of feminism. It has also highlighted the positive and negative controversy surrounding 'femvertising' or advertising employing commodity feminism. It really questions does this really matter, 'femvertising' or advertising employing techniques does not alter the ad, campaign or brand's main purpose, to sell. 

In terms of the research this project could be broadened by more in depth research into live audience perceptions in the form of a focus group perhaps. As the essay word count is limited in this project this was not an essential part to the project before submission. Although, this is an example of how this research project could develop, should I choose to do so at a later stage.
