PPP: Portfolio Feedback

Round 1: My Questions

1.  Does the layout work well? 
'Yes very clear layout - images are clear and labelled well. The simple navigation makes every project easy to find.'

'More engaging with some projects shown larger than others to place emphasis' 

'Some motion, or GIFs would be effective' 

'Super clear'

'Layout works well and website is easy to use'

To summarise feedback revealed layout was clear and effective easy navigation also enhanced this. Images of completed projects were to a high professional standard. This was achieved through collaboration with a Photography student, Jess Doig. 

2.  Is the secondary logo (name) consistent enough with the headline logo (aldesign)? on contact page


'Yes they both follow the same style - elegant and illustrative'

'The uniform typeface logo contrasts well' 

'Yes, but why have two'

To summarise general feedback was the logos work collectively and create a good contrast. The two logos are justified having a name logo makes my personal details clearer. Wheres the 'AL Design' logo makes personal branding more applicable to broad formats such as social media application.

3. Does the colour scheme show a classic minimalist style?

'Yes the white background is crisp and allows each project to be clearly shown improve the quality of some images.'

'Remove black bar to make layout less heavy' 

'The colour scheme does have a classic minimalist tone, however an accent colour would maybe add alot of personality. Used sparingly it could go a long way. 

To summarise feedback confirmed the colour scheme effectively visualised the classic minimalist style my design practice generally applies. However, it also encouraged me to think how single colour could perhaps be sparingly applied e.g. through coloured headings. This would be beneficial to reflect more personality within the design. 

Round 2: Set Questions 

1.  What works well?
- Categorising projects 
- High quality images, with background 
- Large format images 
- Separation of different projects and images of work in context
- Clear layout 

To summarise general feedback confirmed layout of the website and categorising projects was an effective approach. The large scale images also worked well to showcase my work. 

2. What could work better?
- More content 
- Maybe show more of each project through photographs - include the design and photographs 

To summarise feedback highlighted what I already knew to add more content which will come alongside the completion of Extended Practice. 

3.  What would you like to see more of?
- Content, rationale of work 
- Context and reasoning behind work 

To summarise the content including completion of projects and written content including rationale and context.
