- Page size is considered with production format e.g. folds and folding
- Grids should be followed but have some flexibility
- Having a grid makes content easier to read
- Awareness of brand guidelines necessary for application of the logo
- Once a project is finished it is archived for other designers to have access
- Printer instruction can include trim, pack by sort and deliver
- Designer sends printer specification including stock, size, colours etc
- Need to be really clear on quantity when their are multiple deliverables
- Creative jobs - e.g. creating a new brand identity, Production job - working to an existing style
- Some clients also provide content as a san, email or in word
- Step cut - edges of booklet visible
- Gradient fade - draw rectangle, effects, gradient feather, alter opacity
- A gradient helps create stand out
- Could logo shape be incorporated with shapes - type inside circle
- Draw key lines in Pantone colour labelled form - to give printer instructions
What I learnt?
How jobs can fall under two categories, more creative jobs such as designing a new brand identity and production jobs which tend to follow an existing styling or strict grid. Today also highlighted how to make production easier by sending the printer a print spec containing the document format scale colours etc. this helps to avoid mistakes or any confusion especially when mass producing a job, printing more than 500 copies. Today also informed the different formats clients provide content and it is not always through word. Sometimes the client provides content through powerpoint excel and email as well.
